Alan Seltzer joins Pacific Fire Attorneys as Special Counsel. Alan has represented governmental entities in Central and Southern California for three decades. He served as the Chief Assistant County Counsel for Santa Barbara County, advising Boards and Commissions on land use, energy and other complex matters and defending the County in inverse condemnation, civil rights and writ actions. Alan also served as the Chief Deputy City Attorney for the City of Santa Monica, managing the Municipal Division of the City Attorney’s Office. During his distinguished career, Alan has helped local California government recover hundreds of millions of dollars from companies such as Shell, ExxonMobil, Chevron and others for environmental damages, including $109 million from Boeing and Procter and Gamble for the City of Santa Monica.
Alan previously was a staff attorney and Board member of Channel Counties Legal Services, the Legal Services Corporation law office serving Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Among other things, he has taught UCLA’s Advanced Seminar on the Subdivision Map Act, and has been awarded the County Counsels’ Association Litigation Award.
